Last Update :10/9/2020 VSGA granted 501 (c) (3) status by IRS
The Virginia State Golf Association's mission is simple: To promote and serve the game in Virginia, through education and volunteer service to our membership, which includes men, women and juniors.
We're organized to serve golf, golfers and would-be golfers in Virginia by providing educational opportunities through Rules of Golf and World Golf Handicap System seminars and service to our 300-plus member clubs through trainings, event organization and Handicapping management. We also oversee a host of volunteers who give willingly of themselves to provide educational resources to golfers across Virginia.
If there's golf being played somewhere in Virginia, some aspect of that experience runs through a VSGA service.
In August 2020, after nearly 12 months of applications, edits and revisions, the VSGA was granted 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service recognizing the VSGA as a charitable organization for our work in amateur sports competition including education within golf.
This means that now, those of us looking to ensure growth, sustainability and access to golf across the Commonwealth can make tax-deductible donations to the Virginia State Golf Association. This timing coincides with a new opportunity that has been presented by the 2020 CARES Act which made a new charitable deduction available to individual taxpayers that do not itemize their deductions. This universal deduction allows for a charitable deduction of up to $300 per individual.
With your support, we can initiate programs to make the game more affordable and inclusive; we can create foundational support toward accessibility programs like adaptive golf for wounded or disabled military veterans and establish a junior golf expense program to assist Virginia's junior golfers competing in national events.

As we look toward spreading the benefits of golf further across Virginia, your support will be vital to the continued positive outcomes of individuals who experience golf.
As always, donations to the VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation and Virginia Golf Hall of Fame are tax-deductible and used to serve the respective missions of these organizations.
