Davina Weinstein is the Harmonie Club’s first female general manager in New York City club’s 166-year history. Previously serving as assistant GM, Weinstein is the only woman managing any of the more than 40 private clubs in the city. Women’s increasing role is the number one trend in clubs, says Henry DeLozier, partner at Global Golf Advisors, encouraging more family- and health-centric programming. Additionally, healthy programming and amenities are the second biggest trend as more clubs provide and enhance their fitness offerings. The wellness industry has grown to $4.2 trillion in value, up 12.8 percent in the last two year. Office buildings have sought close proximity to boutique gyms like Orange THEORY. Fitness centers, once denied space at malls, are now welcome. Department store Saks Fifth Avenue has a floor in its flagship store dedicated to wellness. Dana Garmany, CEO, Troon Golf, tops Golf Inc.’s 30 most powerful people list as the organization manages nearly 300 courses worldwide with an estimated $760 in value. The Dormie Portfolio of exclusive golf clubs added Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Ind., to its portfolio of golf clubs, investing in a model that includes significant improvements to courses and builds on-site lodging among other renovations. Dormie Club founder Zach Peed notes that the company is reinvesting in course conditions and amenities that “add value to the pure golf experience for our members and their guests.” Forbes.

The Online News Association (ONA), once lacking diversity from its directors, now boasts a majority-women board. Executive Director Irving W. Washington said the organization had be willing to accept and address the need to change. ONA made diversity one of its core principles, launching a committee to increase representation on its board and at its conference, resulting in greater diversity. Associations Now.

The Oaks Club in Asprey, Fla., creates a sense of community and nostalgia, driving member engagement through its use of technology. “Short videos are extremely effective and create a user-friendly way to get messages across to our members,” said GM Jeff Hartigan, “and we’re working on how to further enhance these videos so that we can continue spreading positive messages throughout the club.” Club Road.
