While countries around the world are rapidly adopting data security regulations, states across the U.S. have begun to implement their own. Vermont has passed a law to protect consumer data and to target data brokers that collect individuals' information. In California, a bill that gives consumers the right to know what data businesses hold about them will go into effect in 2020.
