THE LINKS AT PERRY CABIN BY PETE DYE TO DEBUT IN SPRING 2018
St. Michael’s, Md. (Aug. 15, 2017) – The Links at Perry Cabin debuts Spring 2018 on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and Chesapeake Bay. Created by renowned architect Pete Dye, the Links is an exciting, exhilarating 18-hole layout that plays through trees and over significant elevation changes.
“This golf course is exciting because it incorporates all of the Pete Dye mysterious things that he does,” commented Alice Dye, Pete’s wife and long-time design collaborator. “As you go along, it builds up and you see a little Pete Dye here and a few more Pete Dye elements there, and then you get to the 16th hole and the final three holes are so exciting.”
The Dyes describe The Links at Perry Cabin as a family “mulligan” because Pete worked on a course at the same site back in the 1960s with his late brother Roy Andy Dye before the developer went bankrupt. The new course—a total rebuild designed by Pete Dye with additional input from Alice and their son, P.B. Dye—is now part of the most luxurious resort in this part of the country.
It is also one of the most exclusive, being available only to club members and guests of the Inn at Perry Cabin.
“Several holes have a links-style feeling with continuous movement and some mounding that almost looks like natural sand dunes,” explained P.B. “The 7th has the same philosophy as the 9th hole at Yale, a famous ‘Biarritz’ hole with a big saddle in the middle of the green. It’s definitely not a hole that you see on the Eastern Shore, so it’s going to stand out.”
P.B. continued, “At the turn, you enter into an almost parkland-type course, holes 10 to 15 are in the woods with majestic old trees. You feel as if the course has been there for years. Then the last three holes—what we call the ‘Good Night Kiss’—golfers are going to remember, with a short par 4, a replica of the island green from TPC Sawgrass, and the 18th will be one of the most majestic finishing holes in golf.”
Golf memberships are being sold, with playing and lodging privileges built into a limited number of founder memberships.
St. Michael’s, Maryland, is located about 60 miles from Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) and 90 miles from Washington, D.C. The area is easily accessible from Philadelphia (2.5 hours) and New York City (4 hours). Easton Municipal Airport, 20 minutes away, accommodates private aircraft.
