There are 57 million people in this country with disabilities.  Currently, 8 million people with disabilities play golf.  In addition, there are 29 million people with disabilities who have either played the game before or have expressed an interest in trying golf.  The results of the following assessment can directly impact them as well as the industry’s efforts to promote golf as an inclusive learning and playing environment.

On behalf of the golf industry and in conjunction with the National Alliance for Accessible Golf, the PGA of America is conducting an assessment on the status of accessible golf programs for individuals with disabilities.  This assessment will help to identify the number of such programs nationwide and ways that the industry can provide the necessary resources to continue to grow the game for these individuals.

Update on Accessible/Single-Rider Golf Cars
Recently, the U.S. Department of Justice
  provided guidance on the ADA requirement for “Wheelchairs, Mobility Aids and
  Other Power-Driven Mobility Devices” for title II (state and local government
  services) and title III (public accommodations and commercial facilities).
  The Department of Justice recognizes that there is no 'one-size-fits all'
  when it comes to Americans with disabilities and has not made the requirement
  of accessible/ single-rider golf cars. The
  NGCOA encourages golf course owners/operators to be proactive in reaching out
  to individuals with disabilities and to use the game to foster inclusion and
  to grow your business.
