Irvington, VA - There's a shining new addition to one of Virginia's most spectacular golf courses, nestled in the comfortable and classy hamlet of Irvington in Virginia's northern neck. That's right, King Carter, once known primarily as Golf Digest's 2006 Best New Affordable Course in America, will now be known as a full service facility with a new colonial style clubhouse, complete with a cozy restaurant and bar, adjoined by a handsome sun deck.
"We are very pleased with the new amenity," said Mike Bennett, Vice President of Traditional Golf Properties, the management company. "It will be just right for our needs, and a nice amenity to attract outings and member functions. Since opening, we already have 47 new members."
Representatives of Union Bank, the club's owners, gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony in front of a crowd of member, local residents, government officials, golf industry representatives and media. The event was followed by a golf outing.
King Carter opened in 2005 and has become THE favorite for golfers in the region. The club's managers, Tradtional Golf Properties, also operates The Crossings GC in Richmond, Royal New Kent GC in Providence Forge, Stonehouse GC in Toano, Brickshire GC in Providence Forge, Kiskiack GC in Williamsburg, Broad Bay CC in Virginia Beach, as well as courses in NC, MD, NY and CT.
