Urgent: Take Action Now Fight Against Golf's Exclusion from Impending Disaster Tax Relief Legislation
Owners and operators asked to contact policymakers
New legislation that would provide temporary tax relief to families and businesses affected by this year's tornados and flooding was recently introduced by Sen. Richard Shelby (S. 1205) and Rep. Spencer Bachus (H.R. 2321). Yet a provision of it excludes the golf industry from receiving relief, just as similar bills have in the past.
Your help is critical. Contact policymakers now and ask that they support golf's inclusion and give public golf course owners the same relief available to other small businesses.

Background:
In the Gulf Opportunity Zone Act [PL 109-135] and subsequent relief bills, including the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 [PL 110-343], the golf industry – including public golf courses – was excluded from receiving the disaster-related tax assistance available to other businesses. Golf was somehow lumped together with massage parlors, tanning salons, and liquor stores.
