The Park Authority is excited to announce an exceptional career opportunity for a Division Director of Golf Operation (Park Division Director). The Director leads the park system’s eight award winning golf courses, seven clubhouses, four driving ranges, events, merchandising, and lessons program. The Park Authority operates courses from par-three to championship length. All courses are professionally designed and carefully conditioned and maintained to provide the finest golfing in Northern Virginia. The golf system has won numerous local and national awards for design and operation; and hosted local, regional, and national level events.
The Park Authority is seeking an innovative, collaborative, highly experienced individual with a strong business acumen to lead the Park Authority’s golf course system. Reporting to the Park Authority’s Deputy Director/Chief Operating Officer, the Director is responsible for the business development, coordination, operations, and maintenance of the Park Authority’s golf facilities.
The Director sets the strategic direction by establishing operational objectives, service initiatives, revenue, and expense goals, and the short- and long-term capital investment strategy. As a member of the Park Authority’s leadership team, the Division Director of Golf Operations develops goals and strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs of customers. Develops, maintains, and administers a sound business and organizational plan for the golf system which includes an operating budget, marketing plans, merchandising and revenue management.
The Division Director of Golf Operations leads a team of highly skilled and experienced staff. The Director ensures adequate training and resources are available to meet operational objectives, conducts regular meetings, builds teams, mentors, and recognizes superior performance and motivates staff towards excellence.
The Director publicly represents the Park Authority as the face of the agency and presents relevant information at board, community, and homeowners association meetings and to staff. This job is varied in nature and the incumbent must exercise considerable leadership and independent judgment. Business acumen is essential as well as effective skills in communication, political astuteness, team building, process improvement, supervision, managing and working in a diverse environment.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree appropriate to the functional area (recreation, park management, business administration or related field); plus, five years of administrative experience in the appropriate functional area.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ten years progressive leadership experience in the golf industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks. Demonstrated ability to run a professional, efficient, high quality, service-oriented operation. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Supervisory, coaching and staff development experience. Strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Primarily sedentary in nature, however there may be times where it is necessary to traverse uneven terrain, and conduct work in varying temperatures. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
