Position Summary:
The Superintendent is an integral member of the LGCC management team and oversees the maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course and adjacent grounds, including the clubhouse landscaping and maintenance. The above responsibilities also include overseeing the repair and maintenance of all golf course related equipment.
Qualifications, Experience and Skill Requirements: „h Substantial on-the-course experience minimum of 3 – 5 years turfgrass experience
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-- Must be highly organized, efficient and detail oriented
-- Must possess basic computer skills – Word and Excel
-- Must have supervisory, coaching and staff development experience
-- Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business
-- Must have a basic knowledge of budgeting and expense management
-- GCSAA Member preferred, but not required
-- VA Spray license
-- A 2 or 4 year college degree preferred
Position Responsibilities:
-- Maintain the appearance and safety of the course by diagnosing and treating agronomic issues; supervising irrigation scheduling and repairs; maintaining a wide variety of turf grasses in extreme climatic conditions; managing course preparations for tournament and daily play; integrating environmental programs specializing in IPM (Integrated Pest Management); overseeing maintenance of the golf cart fleet; coordinating, scheduling and supervising capital improvement projects
--Manage maintenance operations involved in providing maintenance of greens, fairways, tees, sand traps, bodies of water, roughs, maintenance shop, golf carts and clubhouse; responsibility for the selection, training, assignment and assessment of maintenance staff, providing corrective action as needed; holding safety meetings to ensure the highest level of safety for all maintenance staff
-- Supervises all planting, fertilizing and chemical applications, and other care of turf, plants, shrubs and trees on the golf course and clubhouse surrounds
-- Hires, supervises and develops Assistant Superintendent, and other employees in the maintenance department
-- Coordinates scheduling of all personnel assigned to the department
-- Prepares and manages annual budget plan for the golf course maintenance operation on an annual basis

-- Maintains inventory and oversees all repairs and scheduled maintenance of all golf course maintenance equipment
-- Develops chemical and fertilizing plan on an annual basis
-- Ensures that the golf course is providing healthy and high quality playing conditions for guests of the property
-- Prepares and maintains all recordkeeping for maintenance department (i.e. Human Resource files, inventory files, fertilization and chemical application logs)
-- The regular monitoring of the golf course irrigation and pumping systems to best insure their continuing and optimum effectiveness; and to recommend up-grades, enhancements and replacements as circumstances warrant.
-- Recruit effectively within budget, throughout all levels of staff; and be able to educate/train all crew members relative to their specific assignments, cross-over assignments, safety, Club employment policies.
-- Keep accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc.
-- Communicate regularly with other members of the organization’s top management group to discuss activities, goals, plans and customer input
-- Communicates, coordinates and meets with all relevant membership groups and committees.
-- Coordinates operations with the Golf Professional.
